Welcome to the Hermit crabs house!!
These photos are of my hermit crabs. I have two right now. Later
on I will take some more
pictures of them once they
are out walking around...they
are nocturnal. (Sleep all day)

This is just a shell for them to grow into
Shells and a nice plant they like to climb on. Some of the plants they will eat, and destroy..but others they leave alone. Mostly they eat the hermit crab food I got for them at petco. But they will eat a variety of things like apple, ivy, shrimp, and rice. I try to give them many choices..but they eat so little that I have to remember only a tiny bit. Once a week I let them play in the sink or the tub to wet their gills. But they do breathe air, they have gills form when they were babies floating in the sea.

This is another hermit crab
This shell is the other hermit crab, he likes to sleep on this piece of driftwood. In their tank they have a heatstone which keeps the tank warm. They also have a little *lake* And four trees.(small plants) I recently bought them two new trees, since the last two Ivy plants got eaten and destroyed. They also have a light which is on during the day which is their sun. |

More Hermit pics to come
When the hermit crabs get larger they will be allowed to roam the house..but for now its hard to find them when they go wandering...I usually find them near the heater...hmmmmm they must know my cat!

This hermit crab is bumps. he changes his shell frequently. Sometimes he wears the one shown here, that is a smooth shell. And Sometimes he wears the white bumpy shell. I have seen him molt twice now.
I have seen him and his pal both without their shells walking around. We lost bumps for a while this summer (July-Aug 01) he was spending some time in the bathroom apparently. He is bak in his tank now, and I let him roam in the tub once in a while.
I have a smaller hermit crab contaienr that I plan on letting him use to go swimming, once I get some pics I'll post some new ones here to show you.

This is the other side of *Bumps* this photo was taken in our tub. I let them wander around in there once a week or so, so they get some excersize and can enjoy a bath.
One of these days I'll get a good photo of *Bump* walking in my hand he likes to do it, luckily so far he hasn't pinched me.

UPDATE!!!!!
UPDATE!!!! Shiny the hermit crab has molted twice in the last 3-4 months...he is growing like a weed in hermit crab terms..that is. He still fits in his lovely *shiny* shell, but he is defenitely bigger. I'm going to try to take a photo, but right now he is a little shy since he just molted last night. I found the leftover exoskeleton he left behind and thought it was him---only DOA....but it wasn't!!
He's alive and well...only he is not the lovely reddish hue he used to be. He's much whiter.
The other Hermit has moved shells as well, but he hasn't molted yet, since I've owned him. He is much bigger than Shiny tho. Since shiny has molted again, I am thinking it must be the bananas...I have put bananas in their tank for them to eat, and they devour it..like it's going out of style!!
